The Properties
window appears.
Select the
General tab.
Connect using:
Click the
Configure button.

The Modem
Configuration window appears.
Modem
Speed (BPS) = Set the speed to 57600.
Hardware features:
Check
the box Enable hardware flow control.
Check the box Enable modem error control.
Check the box Enable modem compression.
Click the
OK button to save any changes and to close the window.

Area code
= Leave the area code field blank.
Telephone
number = Enter the Access number you use to connect
to the Internet. This is provided by your Internet service
provider. Enter any other numbers necessary to connect. For
example, if you have 10-digit dialing in your area, enter the
area code along with the phone number. If you have Call Waiting
and would like to disable it while you're on the Internet, enter
"*70," before the access number, i.e., *70,3125555555.
If you're in a hotel and need to dial a "9," to get an outside
line, enter it as well.
Country/region
name and code = Don't worry about this field.
Uncheck the box
Dial using the area code and country code.

Select the Options
tab.
Dialing options:
If checked, uncheck the box
Include Windows logon domain.

Select the Security
tab.
Security options:
Validate my
identity as follows:
Select the
option Allow unsecured password from the menu.

Select the Networking tab.
Type of dial-up
server I am calling:
Select the option
PPP:
Windows 95/95/NT4/2000, Internet from the menu.
Click the Settings button.

If present,
remove the checkmark from the option Enable LCP
extensions.
Leave the checkmark in Enable
software compression.
If present, remove the checkmark from Negotiate
multi-link for single link connections.
Click the OK
button to save any changes
